Jesus
said: “Anyone who hears my words and puts them into
practice is like the wise man who built his house on rock. When
the rainy season set in, the torrents
came and the winds blew and buffeted his house. It did not
collapse; it had been solidly set on rock. Anyone who hears my
words but does not put
them into practice is the foolish man who built his house on sandy
ground. The rains fell, the torrents came, the winds
blew and lashed against his house. It
collapsed under all this and was completely ruined.”

"These
are the days worth living. These are the
years we’re given, and these are the moments. These
are the times. Let’s make
the best out of our lives. See the truth
all around. Our faith can be broken and
our hands can be bound, but open our hearts and fill up the emptiness
with
nothing to stop us. Is it not worth the
risk?"

Is
it worth the risk to open our hearts to something that takes faith to
comprehend? Is it worth the risk to
listen to someone who speaks from 2000 years ago and tells us how to
behave? Is it worth the risk to challenge
ourselves to accept the words of Jesus Christ as the solid foundation
of our
lives?
The true follower of Jesus says that it is. Such a person listens to Jesus’ challenges to love and forgive and to live in peace, and begins to live their reality. And when that follower really does it, really places faith in Jesus, building on the rock of living his words rather than the sand of promises that are never kept, then the follower discovers life worth living. The Calling's song "Our Lives" is truly a song for a committed Christian. Committed Christians can truly say that the moments we have right now are days worth living, and that it is truly the time to make the best out of our lives. We say it because for the committed Christian, our lives are the stepping stones to eternal life with God. |

THOUGHT
What
is the most important challenge that Jesus Christ offers the Christian?
PRAYER Good
and gracious God, these are difficult times, but they can be accepted
as the
best years of our lives. Help us to see
that we truly need your Son and His words in order to live well. Be with us, we pray.
